Aerospace heat treatment of titanium and nickel superalloys under SAE AMS 2750 requires strict classification of furnace temperature uniformity (Class 1: +/-3 C, Class 2: +/-6 C).

1. System Accuracy Tests (SAT) vs. TUS

A System Accuracy Test verifies the thermocouple sensor, lead wire, and instrument loop combined error without breaking electrical connections. Use a portable dry block reference like the DB Therion paired with calibrated Class 1 thermocouples to verify field probes on-site.

2. TUS Thermocouple Grid Placement

Survey volume determines the number of test thermocouples (minimum 9 sensors for working zones up to 6.4 m3). Record continuous data for a minimum of 30 minutes after reaching steady-state soaking temperature.
